VINCI Airports and Dominicana Limpia install waste management program

Environmental Circular economy

VINCI Airports and Dominicana Limpia signed a collaboration agreement for the installation of a new waste management program at Las Américas International Airport this month.

AERODOM, a Dominican company holding a concession contract with the Dominican State for the operation of six airports in the Dominican Republic, and fully-owned subsidiary of VINCI Airports, has signed a collaboration agreement with Dominica Limpia, which will value up to 160 tons of recyclable waste produced by Las Americas International Airport (terminal and offices).

A waste recovery center, which will be built in the coming months, will store the recovered waste for recycling. Education programs will also be offered to airport users, passengers, employees and subcontractors, with the aim of changing attitudes about waste reduction as well as waste separation.

These proposed enhancements are an integral part of VINCI Airports' AirPact environmental strategy, which sets out a global environmental commitment based on 4 shared goals:

  • To obtain and maintain ACA (Airport Carbon Accreditation) for all airports in the network;
  • To reduce VINCI Airports energy intensity by 20% between now and 2020 (compared with 2013 levels);
  • To conduct survey on biodiversity issues for all airports;
  • To obtain ISO 14 001 certification for all airports
