From disaster survivors to COVID warriors, Delta is there when communities need support

Disaster response

From donating more than 1 million pounds of food across the globe to donating surplus amenity kits and personal care products to those in need, Delta people continually look for opportunities to serve communities where they live, work and serve – and beyond.

“I’m constantly amazed by the ability of our people to see opportunities to give back and work tirelessly to serve communities around the world,” said Chief Customer Experience Officer Bill Lentsch. “Donating seemingly small items like snacks, amenity kits, blankets and pillows adds up, and it’s one of many ways Delta people continue to make a big difference and help those in need.”

This week alone, Delta is distributing more than 1 million blankets in the U.S. and more than 75,000 amenity kits to relief efforts in the U.S. and abroad:

Aiding the people of Beirut recover from blast
Following the August blast that brought massive devastation to Beirut, Delta is partnering with Air France’s “Solidarity for Lebanon” event to send more than 65,000 amenity kits to assist those affected by the explosion as they continue to recover. The amenity kits include items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, hygiene items, socks and eyeshades.

Helping those in need through United Way

With winter closing in and necessities in short supply due to COVID-19, Delta is donating more than 700,000 onboard duvets, blankets and pillows to United Way of Westchester and Putnam. United Way will give the items to social services agencies, schools, homeless shelters and other charitable organizations.

“We are proud to partner with United Way to reach organizations, shelters and communities in need across the country,” said Allison Ausband, Delta’s Senior Vice President – In-Flight Service. “Our mission is to connect the world, and giving back is a big part of that. Now more than ever, we must remember to come together, give what we can and support those who need it most.”

Sending comfort to U.S. disaster victims with Good360

As natural disasters have devastated many communities in the U.S. this year, Delta is partnering with product philanthropy nonprofit Good360 to provide over 800,000 tableware items, 5,000 amenity kits and nearly 300,000 blankets to people and families who have lost their homes as a result of hurricanes and wildfires. Delta is able to reach small communities across the country thanks to Good360’s diverse network of nonprofit partners.

Supporting U.S. hospital heroes fighting the pandemic

Throughout the pandemic, Delta has manufactured personal protective equipment for healthcare workers and provided free flights for medical volunteers fighting on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Delta people are continuing that effort by donating 5,000 amenity kits and more than 1,000 pillows and blankets to support U.S. hospitals’ COVID-19 response. Amenity kits, pillows and blankets are given to healthcare workers, and amenity kit items like socks, eyeshades, dental care and skin care items are given to patients in some hospital locations.
